The renewed vision for ‘O Rew—as well as the positive outcomes of the Redwood Trails Gateway & Prairie Creek Restoration—are the result of deep, reciprocal partnerships between Save the Redwoods League and a wide range of entities. The collaboration on this complex project is a source of inspiration and hope for what can be achieved when nonprofit organizations, tribes, public agencies, and local professionals work together to create and realize opportunities. This effort is not easy or quick, but it is prolific. ‘O Rew Project Partners
The shared vision for the ‘O Rew Redwoods Gateway emerged from a long-standing collaboration between four deeply committed conservation partners. It represents an opportunity to establish a groundbreaking model for cooperative land management in which the National Park Service and California State Parks will support visitation and stewardship on land owned by an Indigenous tribe. We are excited to innovate and work together to realize this hopeful vision as part of our ongoing efforts to promote conservation, climate resilience, and cultural revitalization in the North Coast region.
Funding Partners
Our public agency and institutional funding partners have provided critical support for the planning, design, and construction of the five-year project underway today at ‘O Rew. The California State Coastal Conservancy is the lead agency facilitating all public funding for the Prairie Creek Restoration Project and, together with the NOAA Restoration Center and California Wildlife Conservation Board, has been a key planning partner since the League acquired the Orick Mill Site in 2013.
